Leader's Pack - Spring 2010
The phrase “You only get one shot” is a lie.
Life is filled with second chances. Most of the time, one mess up doesn’t do you in for good. There will be an opportunity to right the ship. This quarter’s devotions are all about second chances.
Daniel represented the second (or is it third, fourth, or fifth?) chance for the nation of Israel. They were being held captive by the Babylonians when Daniel started to lead them in ways that honored the Lord again.
Ezra led the Israelites in rebuilding the temple. The one thing that signified the presence of God in their country had been destroyed, and it was up to Ezra to start it up again—to lead his people to once again serve God. He had a second chance.
Lastly, Nehemiah rebuilt the wall around Jerusalem, further re-solidifying the nation of Israel. He represented a second chance.
Maybe you need a second chance. You’ve messed up before and you want just one more shot to make it right again.
Or maybe your parents were the ones to mess up your life. Now it’s your turn and you’ve decided you’re not taking the same paths they did.
This is your shot. Time to charge back up and go.
