Do you think it's OK for Christians to pledge to a sorority or fraternity at a secular college? Why or why not? What are the benefits or detriments?

David and I will be discussing this on this week's podcast.

We look forward to reading what you think!

I found the last podcast interesting. Jacob's statement that was something to the effect of, "the unspoken reason to be in a frat or sorority is to drink," surprised me. Sure, traditionally there have been plenty of people drink that are a part of greek societies, but that is really not a big part of all of them anymore. Although I am not greek, being at MTSU for 5 years I have come to realize that each frat/sorority has it's own personality. There's the super-rich guys, 25 and still in undergrad partiers, the smart girls, the country guys...just as many differences as high school cliques essentially. Some of them would be bad for one's Christian walk for sure, but others would not. I also think that it is important to be involved in some things that are not strictly Christian such as Campus Crusade or the like. A healthy Christian should have a good church family and a Christian friends, but they should also intentionally involve themselves with some people to be witnesses. Not pledging for Jesus necessarily, but pledging to build relationships outside of the Christian bubble. If everything in which we are involved is Christian where are we going to get to know anyone close enough to be a witness? Just some thoughts.
